CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- For the 10th year in a row, Skyland Family Restaurant on South Boulevard gave away free Thanksgiving meals to those in need.
More than a dozen people were already lined up outside the restaurant as the meals were being brought out.
"God being nice to me and my family," Jimmy Kakavitsas, Skyland's owner, said. "I like to give something back to these people who make me who I am today."
Teresa Peterson picked up a meal with her son, Amare.
"It's just amazing," Peterson said. "It's great to see especially with everything that's crazy in this world that everybody wants to reach out."
Kakavitsas plans to hand out meals again next Thanksgiving.
