3 firefighters hurt in Steele Creek home blaze

Three firefighters were injured battling a fire, Sunday morning, that destroyed a two-story home in the Steele Creek area.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Fire Department assisted Steele Creek's fire department in tackling a large home blaze, which resulted in three firefighters being hurt on Sunday morning.

The structure fire started around 7 a.m. at a two-story home on the 13000 block of Rocky Gap Lane. 

Medic confirmed three people were hurt and transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The Steele Creek Fire Department later confirmed those three people are firefighters. 

Charlotte Fire said heavy flames were visible when responders arrived at the scene.

WCNC Charlotte's crew on the scene saw multiple agencies at the site of the destroyed house, which appeared to have heavy clouds of smoke rising from its charred remnants.

WCNC Charlotte reached out to the Steele Creek Fire Department to find out more information about the people who were hurt.

WCNC has not yet learned the cause of this fire.
