CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte firefighter was rushed to the hospital after a large overnight house fire in a Blakeney neighborhood, the Charlotte Fire Department said.

Firefighters responded to the massive blaze in the home's garage just before 2 a.m. Tuesday along Ledger Court, which is near Community House Road and Ardrey Kell Road in south Charlotte.

No injuries to civilians were reported following the blaze, officials said. Charlotte firefighters were able to control the fire in about 80 minutes.

Officials on the scene told WCNC Charlotte those in the house were able to get out promptly. The family told our crew they had lived in the home for decades. There were about 10 people inside at the time of the fire, including grandparents, two adults and six children ages nine to 16.

"I’m just happy everyone got out OK and safe," one of the adults who was inside the house told WCNC Charlotte.

WCNC Charlotte has a crew on the scene working to learn more about how the fire started.
