It's been 20 years since Susan Smith did the unthinkable.
On October 25th, 1994, Smith drowned her two small sons in John D Long Lake in Union County. However, for days she claimed a black man carjacked her vehicle and drove off with her babies.
Robert Stewart led the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division during that time, and his office played a key role in exposing Smith's crime.
In the above video interview with News19's J.R. Berry, Smith explains what the first clue was that led investigators to question her story, and how her claim about what took place at a traffic intersection ultimately unraveled her lies.
