CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Carolina Panthers all-time leading rusher is reportedly heading north to East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Former Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart is expected to sign with the New York Giants, according to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Panthers released Stewart February 28 after finishing the 2017 regular season with 680 rushing yards and six touchdowns. In his 10 seasons with Carolina, Stewart rushed for 7,318 yards and scored 58 total touchdowns.

Prior to his release, Stewart had spent his entire NFL career with the Panthers. He became Carolina's all-time leading rusher in 2017 after surpassing DeAngelo William's previous record in October.

Stewart will be reunited with general manager Dave Gettleman and offensive coordinator Mike Shula as a New York Giant.
