“It just seemed to continue throughout the day, and we knew it would be flooding from what we heard,” Gaston County resident David Julan said.

Another resident, Cody Mosteller said even though it floods there every winter, “this is the first time [he’s] seen it get this high.”

Some people in the area say they’re worried about what Friday’s storm could bring since the flood water from Tuesday is still sitting so high.

“If it wasn’t going to rain tomorrow, it wouldn’t be so concerning, but that’s real high – especially with all the rain we have coming in tomorrow. So, it ain’t looking good,” Kesha Brown said.

As everyone is cleaning up what they can and putting things away, Julan is just hoping history doesn’t repeat itself.

“I’ve seen it almost touch the bridge down there," Julan said. "A few years ago it actually got out into the middle and we had to put sandbags around the drug store and around the fire department."
