GASTONIA, N.C. — Police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened in Gastonia on Friday night, according to police.
The shooting happened around 10 p.m. near Pine Street and Shamrock Road. That's right next to Hickory Grove Road.
There, officers found two people who had been shot. Both were sent to a local hospital, where one person died.
The other person is in stable condition.
Everyone involved was identified and there is no ongoing threat to the public, police said.
On Tuesday, Gaston County Police identified the victim as 38-year-old Ronnie Ray Welch of Gastonia. They also said a juvenile was the suspect involved.
Gaston County Police are collaborating with the Gaston County District Attorney's office in the investigation.
