Climber rescued after falling around 15 feet on Crowder's Mountain

A woman was climbing with another climber Tuesday when she fell. She has non-life-threatening injuries, officials say.

GASTONIA, N.C. — Gastonia Fire and EMS are currently on the scene of a fall at Crowders Mountain. 

At 12:03 pm on Tuesday, a dispatch was received reporting someone had fallen on Crowder’s Mountain located at 1 State Park Entrance Road in Gastonia.

Once they got there, rescue crews ascended the mountain and hiked around a mile through tough terrain to reach the patient. 

Officials say the woman had been climbing on the mountain along with another climber and fell approximately 15 feet near David’s Castle, which is a mile away from radio towers near the north end of the mountain.

She was brought down the mountain by rescue personnel and transported to Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia with non-life threatening injuries.

Officials say no other injuries were reported by the approximately 20 personnel that were on the scene.
