GASTONIA, N.C. — Nobody was hurt early Tuesday morning after a fire tore through a home in Gastonia.
The Gastonia Fire Department said it happened at a home along East Harrison Avenue. Photos and video shared by the department on Facebook showed flames and heavy smoke billowing from the roof as crews fought to douse the fire. Two battalions, two engines, a rescue crew, and two ladder crews responded.
Nobody was hurt per the department. The fire marshal's office said the fire was started accidentally, and was tied to a heater used inside.
An estimated dollar amount for damages was not given.
Tuesday morning's fire comes just days after a fire was reportedly set to a mobile home elsewhere in Gastonia as part of what investigators called a domestic incident. 35-year-old Shawn Christenberry is facing charges, including first-degree murder, for the fire that he allegedly set along Brian Circle on Sunday. He was hospitalized with injuries from that blaze and will face his charges upon release.
