Video captures moments dog stolen in Gaston County

The dog is a black and white pit bull mix, and is one year old.

GASTONIA, N.C. — Police in Gaston County are asking the public's help in looking for a stolen dog, and the people accused of taking the dog.

It happened on July 8. The Gaston County Police Department said around 12:15 p.m., a person was driving down Birchfield Lane in Gastonia when they stopped, allowing the person in the front passenger's seat to open their door and call for the dog.

Police shared a video of the incident on Facebook, provided by a neighbor. 

At this time, police don't have any information on the suspects other than they appeared to be in a gray Honda Accord.

July 23, 2024 Gaston County Police Department Seeks Assistance with Larceny Case On July 8, 2024, at 12:15 p.m., the passenger in the pictured vehicle stole a resident's dog. The vehicle was traveling down Birchfield Lane in Gastonia, N.C., when the driver stopped in the roadway. The front passenger opened the door and called the dog into the vehicle. The vehicle appears to be a gray Honda Accord. There is no further information regarding the suspects or the registration plate on the vehicle. The dog is a one year old, black with white, pit bull mix. A photo of the dog is included in the comments section. This video was provided by a neighbor and has been altered to zoom in.
