Car hit by train in Gastonia, one person killed

​The train was at one point blocking all lanes of Jenkins Dairy Road, but the road has since reopened.

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — One person has died after a train hit a car in Gaston County, according to the Gastonia Police Department.

It happened around 4 a.m. on Tuesday, near the intersection of Jenkins Dairy Road and Bessemer City Road. 

The train was at one point blocking all lanes of Jenkins Dairy Road, but the road has since reopened.  

Further details on the crash have not been released at this time. WCNC Charlotte is working to learn more.
