CHARLOTTE, N.C. — On Tuesday, the City of Charlotte announced an exciting new funding opportunity for local nonprofits that are working to empower youth in the Corridors of Opportunity.
Sponsored by Albemarle, a $10,000 grant is now available for organizations that are working on initiatives that emphasize upward mobility and opportunities for Charlotte youth.
The grant is part of the upcoming Meck Mile event, which will take place on May 25. The event is for all Charlotteans to come together to "run, walk, skip or dance through the streets surrounding Memorial Stadium," according to the press release.
The city is encouraging nonprofits within the Corridors of Opportunity that are focused on youth well-being to apply for the grant.
Grant applications will be accepted from March 26 through April 30. The nonprofit that is chosen to receive the $10,000 grant will be recognized during the Meck Mile event.
"The city of Charlotte is committed to supporting the growth and well-being of our youth," sErin Gillespie, interim Corridors of Opportunity executive manager, said. "We are grateful to Albemarle for their generous contribution, which will undoubtedly make a meaningful difference in the lives of many young individuals in the Corridors of Opportunity.
