Hickory woman killed in Lincoln County crash

NC State Highway Patrol said the woman ran a stop sign.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The NC State Highway Patrol said it investigated a fatal crash in Lincoln County, Friday evening, at an intersection of Reepsville Road and Cansler Road.

The crash happened around 5:15 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17. 

NCSHP said a 2002 Toyota RAV4 heading west on Cansler Road ran a stop sign and was hit by a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe traveling south on Reepsville Road.

The driver of the RAV4, 65-year-old Susan Willis Wilson, died at the scene. 

Highway Patrol said Wilson, who was from Hickory, was not wearing a seat belt when the cars collided. 

The driver of the Tahoe, 56-year-old Desma Ann Hart from Vale, and a juvenile passenger were both transported by EMS to Atrium Health Lincoln with non-life-threatening injuries.

The initial investigation does not indicate speed or impairment to be a factor in this crash, according to a statement from NCSHP.

No charges will be filed in this case. 

The road closed in the area for about two hours during the on-scene investigation but has since reopened.
