Shooting, armed robbery suspect found dead in Hickory attic

His cause of death is unknown at this time.

HICKORY, N.C. — Police found a suspect dead in the attic of a Hickory home Thursday afternoon. 

According to Hickory Police, 34-year-old Dallas Loyd Gragg was wanted for one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting bodily injury, one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon in connection to a shooting and robbery on June 20 in Hickory. The police report states $15,000 in cash was stolen from the property, along with a car, a designer purse, wallet, a cell phone and various other items.

When trying to find Gragg, police reportedly saw him around 2266 9th Avenue Drive NE in Hickory on Thursday. 

Officers said they tried to speak with Gragg as well as other people coming in and out of the property but were not successful. They finally got in the home and found him in the attic.

His cause of death is unknown at this time, however anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the Hickory Police Department at 828-328-5551.
