GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A hiker is expected to be OK after falling 75 feet at Crowders Mountain on Wednesday, officials said.
The hiker fell 75 feet and was stuck on a ledge on the backside of Pinnacle Trail, according to the Gastonia Fire Department. Crews from multiple agencies, including Gaston County EMS and the Kings Mountain Fire Department, were called to the state park to help free the hiker.
Crews were able to reach the hiker and lowered them approximately 150 feet to the bottom of the mountain. From there, rescue crews used over 1,200 feet of rope to get the hiker to an ambulance, which took them to Caromont Regional Medical Center.
Officials haven't identified the hiker or said what caused them to fall on the trail.
