Man dies after fight in west Charlotte

The man started feeling chest pains and went home, where he was found unresponsive, police said.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man died after he was involved in a fight in west Charlotte Wednesday night, police said.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to an apartment complex on Forestbrook Drive, which is just south of Tuckaseegee Road, around 8 p.m. for a medical emergency. The man started having chest pains during a fight in the parking lot of the complex and went to his home, CMPD said.

The man, who hasn't been identified, was taken to the hospital by Medic where he later died. Investigators were at the apartment complex throughout the night looking for witnesses about the incident.

"We know there were injuries sustained from the fight, we don't know the entire extent of those injuries," a CMPD spokesperson said. "At the end of the day, this man lost his life and the family is going to have to suffer with that."

Shots were fired in the area shortly after police arrived at the scene but CMPD says the shooting was not related to the man's death.
