Charlotte Fire finds cause of home blaze

The fire broke out on Effingham Road, Saturday morning.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A fire on Effingham Road in Charlotte caused three people to be left without a home, Saturday morning. 

Firefighters saw heavy flames when they got to the house but 30 Charlotte firefighters controlled it in nine minutes. 

The blaze was probably caused by "discarded smoking materials," according to the Charlotte Fire Department.

The people displaced were all adults. They are being helped by the American Red Cross. 

One of the people was evaluate by EMS. No other injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.

The fire caused around $15,000 in damages to the home.
