Man dies in accident at Huntersville grocery store

Authorities would only confirm it was an "industrial accident."

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — A man is dead after what officials are calling an "industrial accident" at a Huntersville grocery store.

Huntersville Police Department, Huntersville Fire Department and Medic officials responded to a call Friday morning at the Lowes Food grocery store on Boren Street, which is just off Gilead Road.

The man was reportedly struck and killed, according to Medic. Huntersville Police Department Assistant Chief Brian Vaughan told WCNC Charlotte, "as of now, we are classifying this as an industrial accident, and there is one deceased male." Vaughan said that was all he could share at this time.

Huntersville Fire told WCNC Charlotte it responded to the area for a "work-related accident near a business." The department was not able to provide any more details at this time.

A Lowes Foods spokesperson told WCNC Charlotte the victim was not a Lowes Foods employee.

Huntersville PD are on the scene investigating what led to the man's death.

WCNC Charlotte will add information as it is received.
