'Everything's back here' | Lancaster residents upset with illegal dumping

Items like furniture and toys were all dumped along the roadside.

LANCASTER, S.C. — Residents in the city of Lancaster are asking for help with illegal dumping happening near their homes.

Clothes, furniture, tires, and toys can all be found right along Pardue Circle – along with multiple “no dumping” signs.

“Every day I come back and it’s more and more stuff. It’s just stuff everywhere. Everything’s back here. Couches, clothes,” said Kennedy Reed, a longtime neighbor.

Other neighbors – who wanted to remain anonymous – said the city should install cameras to catch the person/people responsible.

In a statement, the city told WCNC Charlotte it is now prepared to have crews go out Monday to “clean the area up.” During that process, the city it “will be looking for evidence that can help [officials] identify and convict those responsible.”

Neighbors say they hope whoever’s responsible finds another solution.

“To keep dumping this much stuff is really sad because it’s clothes they could’ve taken to the homeless shelters or donated – it’s different ways to get rid of your trash instead of dumping it on the side road,” Reed said.
