Students not hurt during turnabout incident on school bus, Lancaster County district says

A district spokesperson said the bus was making a turnabout along Willie Usher Road.

LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. — A school bus in Lancaster County had to be towed out of a ditch Friday afternoon after a turnabout issue led to a minor incident.

WCNC Charlotte was tipped off to the scene along Willie Usher Road near Tabernacle Road around 3:30 p.m. When reached by phone, a spokesperson for the Lancaster County School District shared more details.

The spokesperson said 21 students from Buford Elementary School were on board when the bus driver tried making the turnabout. However, the bus got caught in the ditch, requiring everyone on board to get off. None of the students were hurt, and a second bus was called to get them home.

Buford Elementary dismissed students at 2:15 p.m. The bus involved in the incident was towed away some time before 4 p.m.
