LANCASTER, S.C. — A crash that unfolded just south of Lancaster early Saturday evening claimed the life of a motorcyclist.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol said it happened shortly after 6:30 on Highway 200, just three miles south of town. A 2017 Jeep SUV with a driver and child inside were headed south on the highway, while the motorcyclist on a 2023 Kawasaki was headed north.
Troopers said the crash happened when the motorcyclist tried turning onto Memorial Park Road. However, the Jeep hit him.
The motorcyclist, who was identified as 25-year-old Christian Tyler Lisenby of Lancaster, was declared dead. The driver and child in the Jeep were not hurt.
Lisenby's cousin described him as "strong, dedicated, honest and loving" and recalled a fond memory of when Lisenby taught him how to snowboard.
