Food Lion employee springs into action when car fills with smoke in parking lot

"I felt a hero's recognition was in order," the WCNC Charlotte viewer told us.

LANCASTER, S.C. — A WCNC Charlotte viewer caught a moment they felt deserved recognition on Sunday.

A Food Lion employee in Lancaster, South Carolina, spotted a car starting to fill with smoke in the parking lot around 2:45 p.m. The WCNC Charlotte viewer said all the doors were reportedly locked.

"We weren't sure if anyone was in the smoke-filled car, so this Food Lion employee was unselfish and brave and did what he though was right," the WCNC Charlotte viewer shared. "Luckily, no one was in the vehicle, and no one got hurt."

The incident happened at the Food Lion on Airport Road just east of Great Falls Road. The WCNC Charlotte viewer was able to catch the daring action on video

"The gentleman that broke the window is a manager of that Food Lion," the viewer said. "I felt a hero's recognition was in order."

WCNC Charlotte has reached out to authorities as well as the Food Lion corporate offices to get a response to this action as well as to find out what caused the car to fill with smoke.
