LANCASTER, S.C. — Lancaster officials are investigating after a popular restaurant caught fire early Monday morning.
The Lancaster Fire Department responded to a fire at Mariachis Mexican restaurant a few minutes before 2:30 a.m. When crews arrived, they saw heavy fire coming through the roof with smoke billowing from the building.
Deputy Chief David Melton said sections of the building's roof collapsed while firefighters were working to contain the flames. Melton said the building isn't a total loss but the fire caused significant damage. Firefighters cleared the scene a little after 8 a.m. No one was hurt during the incident.
Lancaster fire investigators haven't announced the cause of the fire at this time. No further information was made available.
