Man recovering in hospital after hit-and-run in Kings Mountain

The victim is currently in the hospital but said he hopes the person who did this will come forward.

KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. — The North Carolina State High Patrol is on the lookout for a truck that hit a man in Kings Mountain and then drove away. It happened just after 6 p.m. on Saturday on Margrace Road near Kings Mountain Boulevard.

The victim is currently in the hospital but said he hopes the person who did this will come forward.

Jason Foster was cutting grass along Margrace Road in Kings Mountain when he was hit.

“Saturday was just a normal day at work,' Foster said.  "It’s a busy road with a long straightaway. I’m always careful to make sure no one is coming.”

“It was almost intentionally like they swerved because when I was hit, I was in the grass," Foster said.

The truck hit Foster while traveling at least 50 mph, according to police. The impact broke several of Foster's bones.

“He came so fast, he hit me so fast and he left so fast," Foster said.

Foster said he was able to get a glance of the truck while he was on the ground. He said it was a 1982-1987 Ford F-150 or F-250. He said it was navy blue and should have damage on it.

“I was hit by the front of the truck according to highway patrol," Foster said. "They found pieces of the grill next to me.”

On Monday he sat in a hospital bed and thought about what all he could have lost.

“I want to be here for [my son], Foster said. "I could have been killed by a person who didn’t even stop and check on me. My whole life got changed in a matter of 30 seconds.”
