HUDSON, N.C. — A man died in Caldwell County after being hit by a car on Sunday, according to the NC State Highway Patrol.
The crash happened on US 321 near Mission Road around 9 p.m. Highway patrol said 57-year-old Randy Allen McGuire was walking southbound in the roadway when a car hit and killed him.
McGuire, who is from Hudson, was wearing dark clothing and the roadway was dark, officials said.
The driver was not hurt.
"The initial investigation does not indicate impairment or speed to be contributing factors," a highway patrol spokesperson said.
The road was closed in the area for several hours on Sunday during the on-scene investigation.
No charges will be filed in this case, officials said.
