CHARLOTTE, N.C. Returning to his Carolina roots, basketball great Michael Jordan just bought a piece of property in uptown Charlotte.

NewsChannel 36 took a tour inside the condo building that Jordan will call home.

The building sits right in the heart of uptown, a Bank of America building on one side, one of the city s swankiest steakhouses on the other.

Tucked away in the middle is Michael Jordan's front door.

That s one of the reasons I think Michael bought here, it is one of the most secure and elite properties in Charlotte, says Rob Drag, a realtor selling one of the other condos in the building.

When he bought the Bobcats Jordan promised he'd be spending more time in the Queen city, even if the North Carolina native did have a momentary lapse.

At a news conference announcing the deal Jordan said, I want to provide entertainment to the city of Chicago, I mean the city of Charlotte.

It seems like he's making good, having just bought the entire top floor of the newly redone Trust building.

The old bank building has been around since the late 1960 s and even has pictures from that time framed in the elevator.

It was pretty fancy even before the Bobcats new owner bought in.

Drag is selling a 3500 square foot condo two floors below where Jordan will bunk.

His client is a bachelor and local developer who has owned his place since 2008.

He paid $1.5 million when he bought the place, but is now asking $1.8 million for the 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom condo.

What does he think it s going do for the values, knowing one of the biggest stars in the world is going be living here? He should probably hold onto it for awhile, it would definitely increase in value, says Drag.

The space is wide open. A local decorator had free reign and there are unique touches everywhere.

It s modern, urban, I just think it s very eclectic, Drag tells us as we walk around.

There is a built-in saltwater fish tank in the kitchen and beautiful Brazilian hardwoods throughout.

The kitchen has every modern luxury, including an espresso maker and top of the line appliances.

It s pretty modern, modern, gourmet, Drag says. It has everything a gourmet cook would want from the Viking stove to the Viking oven, built in espresso maker, Sub-Zero refrigerator; there is a Sub-Zero wine cooler.

The dining room is just outside the kitchen and outside a patio is set up like an outdoor living room, complete with grill and cold keg.

The actual living room is simple, a mix of old and new with leather chairs designer Gene Cline found at a local flea market.

Down the hall you find the guest bedroom with its own attached bath.

The master bedroom has a dresser with a hidden, remote-controlled TV and the master bath features two vanities, a luxurious shower and separate whirlpool tub.

Women though will love the hidden laundry room just off the bath, and the walk-in closet that is bigger than many bedrooms.

The Trust is already home to a Bobcat, forward Boris Diaw lives here.

Jordan's place on the 7th floor is still under construction.

When he moves in, the new team owner can walk to work; Time Warner Arena is just a block away.

I m sure he s going to enjoy being walking distance from Time Warner, after games are over he can have people here to celebrate a win, says Drag.
