Missing teen reported in Matthews

Jahamya Ivelisse Herndon is 16 years old and last seen earlier Saturday morning.

MATTHEWS, N.C. — Citizens are asked to be on the lookout for a missing teen in the Matthews area.

The Matthews Police Department said 16-year-old Jahamya Ivelisse Herndon went missing from her home on Reverdy Lane around 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning. just south of Pineville-Matthews Road. She may have been headed to the Arboretum Shopping Center.

Herndon lives with autism and was last seen wearing an olive green T-shirt, olive green cargo pants, and brown or gold sandals. Her brown hair is in twists that go down to her shoulders. She stands at 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 260 pounds. She also has brown eyes.

Matthews Police noted photos they shared of her Saturday matched the clothing and appearance described in their alert.
