Mooresville Fire-Rescue confirmed that no one was home at the time of the fire, but several pets inside the house didn't survive. One firefighter was treated on the scene and another was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Iredell County Fire Marshal with assistance from the Iredell County Sheriff's Office and Mooresville Fire Marshal's Office. No further details were provided about the person of interest or the investigation itself.
