Motorcycle hits Charlotte city bus

The bus was headed toward the Charlotte Transportation Center when a motorcycle turned at the wrong time, police said.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two people were hurt in a crash involving a CATS bus and a motorcycle in Charlotte's Elizabeth neighborhood early Friday, officials said. 

The crash happened around 1:30 a.m. at the corner of Seventh Street and Hawthorne Lane, according to CATS. The agency said the bus was going through the intersection with a motorcyclist ran a red light and crashed into the side of the vehicle.

The motorcyclist and one bus passenger were taken to the hospital, according to Medic, who said one of the patients suffered serious injuries. Both people were conscious and talking to first responders at the scene, Medic said.

CATS said the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is currently investigating the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
