Northwest Charlotte house fire started by cigarette

Fire investigators determined that a burning cigarette sparked a house fire in northwest Charlotte Tuesday morning.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Fire is investigating after a house went up in flames in northwest Charlotte Tuesday morning. 

Firefighters were called to a home on South Hoskins Road near Glenwood Drive around 3:45 a.m. When firefighters got to the scene, they saw flames and smoke coming from the roof of the building. 

Charlotte Fire determined that the fire was caused by an improperly thrown out smoking material. No injuries were reported.
