CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A multi-county police chase started in York County and ended near the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte on Monday, according to the York County Sheriff's Office.
York County officers chased the car until reaching heavy traffic near Charlotte, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office said. That is when they stopped pursuing the car, and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department began monitoring it by chopper, the spokesperson said.
The car was believed to be stolen out of the Huntersville area, according to the sheriff's office.
The car appeared to travel through Charlotte at a high speed, going north on Interstate 77.
WCNC Charlotte Reporter Austin Walker saw two people put in the back of a patrol car. Authorities on the scene said it was a stolen vehicle.
