Pack of coyotes spotted near uptown Charlotte

NBC Charlotte has reported at least two cases this year where a coyote has attacked a child.

If you've spent any time in the Charlotte area, hearing about coyotes probably isn't a big surprise. But what about a pack of them?

Donna Ragan posted a video to her Facebook page warning residents in the Sedgefield area about the sighting around 4:30 a.m. on Monday, December 17.

You can't heart much in the video but you can clearly see two large coyotes strolling through the neighborhood. They even walked right up to Ragan's mother's home.

Most of us have seen the posts on social media about coyote run-ins. In fact, NBC Charlotte has reported at least two cases this year where a coyote has attacked a child.

NC Wildlife Commission told NBC Charlotte the spike in sightings is no surprise to them. They say the city location isn't a shock either.

"They can live in the most remote dense forest, or they can live in the middle of a large city," NC Wildlife Biologist Danny Ray said.

Since this latest video shows a pack in the Charlotte area, this serves as a crucial safety warning to people with children and pets -- keep watch and bring them inside by dark to keep them safe.
