CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- East Charlotte residents got a chance to weigh in today on what they would like to see in their new regional recreation center at Eastway Park.
The new $40 million recreation center is the first of its kind in east Charlotte. It will include a fitness center, upstairs track, nature center and an indoor competition swimming pool.

“This is huge," said Parks and Recreation Director Jim Garges. "You’re not going to find another regional rec center like this in the southeast, I don’t believe. You’ll find these in the North, you’ll find them on college campuses.. but this is an inter-generational center that brings people together."
This is the first of four multi-purpose centers the county plans to build.
