Person hit, killed by train in Gastonia

The incident happened Tuesday afternoon.

GASTONIA, N.C. — A person in Gastonia is dead after being hit by a train on Tuesday afternoon.

The City of Gastonia Police Department responded to calls about a pedestrian hit by a train near Ransom Street and Airline Avenue Tuesday afternoon. The person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gastonia Police Department is currently investigating this incident.
