CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Mecklenburg EMS responded to Interstate 85 northbound in west Charlotte around 1 a.m. on Tuesday after a report a woman had been hit on the highway. That woman was pronounced dead by paramedics.
It happened where the interstate meets Billy Graham Parkway. The woman appeared to have been in the middle lane at the time the crash happened, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said. I-85 has since reopened.
No vehicle remained at the scene as law enforcement arrived, troopers said. The victim has not yet been identified.
Hours later, Mecklenburg EMS responded to another crash involving a pedestrian, this one on I-485 near Harrisburg Road in east Charlotte. In that incident, the person was taken to a hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries.
