3 charged in east Charlotte shooting that killed 1, injured 3

Kevin Zetino, Adilio Garcia, and Jonathan Rivera are facing a slew of charges in connection with a deadly shooting from Aug. 2.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Three men were arrested in connection with an east Charlotte shooting that killed one person and injured three others last week, court records show. 

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to a shooting along Shamrock Drive, near the Charlotte Museum of History, around 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 2. When officers arrived, they found two people lying in the road with gunshot wounds. They were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The officers found two additional victims in a nearby house. One of the victims, 57-year-old Jose Octavio Cruz, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Court records show that Kevin Zetino was arrested in connection with the shooting. He was charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon. Zetino had his first appearance in court on Wednesday, where a judge denied bond.

Adilio Garcia Lemus, 24, was arrested on Wednesday in connection to this shooting. He is charged with murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, and first-degree burglary, among other charges. 

Jonathan Rivera, 20, was arrested on Thursday and given the same charges as Garcia, including murder.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. CMPD said it will release more information once it is available.
