RHODHISS, N.C. — One person died in a crash in Burke County on Friday night.
The crash happened around 5 p.m. on Rhodhiss Road near Brown Circle.
A Toyota Tacoma collided head-on with a Kia Sportage, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
The driver of the Tacoma went to a hospital in Morganton with minor injuries.
The driver of the Sportage, 42-year-old Lori Jean Ward of Connelly Springs, died at the scene.
Ward was not wearing a seatbelt, according to highway patrol officers.
"The initial investigation indicates speed and alcohol were not contributing factors in the collision," a highway patrol spokesperson said.
After troopers consulted with the Burke County District Attorney’s Office, charges will not be filed.
Rhodhiss Road was closed in the area for approximately two hours during the on-scene investigation.
