CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person died in a crash involving two cars and a Charlotte city bus, Saturday night.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating after the crash closed the intersection of Dunlavin Way and Eastway Drive overnight.
Police are asking anyone with information to call the police department.
The person who died was identified as Francisco Ortiz-Ruiz.
"The preliminary investigation indicates that Mr. Ortiz-Ruiz was driving southbound on Eastway Drive at a high rate of speed," police reported.
At the same time, a CATS bus was traveling north on Eastway and making a left turn onto Dunlavin Way.
As the bus turned left, Ortiz's car hit the bus head-on, pushing the bus into a third car that was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection.
There was one passenger on the bus.
