PINEVILLE, N.C. – Authorities in Pineville say a woman was severely burned and two dogs were killed in an overnight house fire.
Firefighters were dispatched to a home in the 100 block of Marine Drive around 1:30 a.m. Medic said that the person injured in the fire suffered potentially life-threatening injuries in the fire. Officials said she was severely burned. Authorities say the family's two dogs were killed in the fire.
Emergency personnel remained on the scene long after the flames were extinguished, hoping to salvage as much from inside the home as possible.
“Not only to search for hidden fire, but salvaging people’s personal items,” said one firefighter. “We take great pride in that. We’re trying to save people’s heirlooms and pictures you can’t replace.”
However, when firefighters extinguished the fire, they discovered marijuana inside the home.
Pineville officers applied for a search warrant and seized over 19 ounces of marijuana. Police say charges are pending at this time.
