CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Police say a shooting outside Carowinds amusement park has lead to a boy hospitalized at CMC.
Deputies believe the shooting started as an argument inside the park.
It was around closing time when police got the call. They found the victim at the pickup/drop off location, which Carowinds describes as outside of the park. They are now working with detectives.
MEDIC confirmed that the victim was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Deputies say they are interviewing witnesses and have a vague suspect car description which they believe to be a light blue Dodge Charger or Magnum.
"There was a light skinned male that was driving who we believe is the suspect at this time," said York County P.I.O. Trent Faris.
Carowinds released the following statement Monday night after the incident:
"At approximately 7:20 pm, Carowinds security officers reported a shooting in the bus parking lot outside of the park. We can confirm that a juvenile male has been transported for medical treatment. We are assisting both Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police and the York County Sheriff’s Office in this active investigation. There is no additional information available at this time."
