Police use taser on man trying to steal sausage from store

Gastonia police used a Taser to subdue a man accused of resisting arrest and trying to steal sausage and other items from stores.

GASTONIA, N.C. -- Gastonia police used a Taser to subdue a man accused of resisting arrest and trying to steal sausage and other items from stores.

The Gaston Gazette reported that police arrested 19-year-old Anthony Terell Livous and charged him with taking some food from a discount store and then trying to steal sausage packets, biscuits and lemonade from a grocery store.

Police say they used the weapon after Livous refused to stop walking after two officers confronted him near the grocery store. The officers say he also put his hands in his pockets.

Livous is charged with resisting police and two counts of misdemeanor larceny.

He is being held in the Gaston County Jail. It was not immediately clear if he has an attorney.
