Procession for fallen Task Force Officer Sam Poloche

Poloche was working on a United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Charlotte when he was one of four law enforcement officers killed by a shooter.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Sam Poloche was a 14-year veteran with the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections when he was shot and killed Monday in Charlotte. He was one of four law enforcement officers killed during an hours-long standoff in east Charlotte.

On Friday, a procession carried Poloche's body from the Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner's office in west Charlotte to the funeral home.

Like with the processions for Joshua Eyer, Alden Elliott and Thomas Weeks, traffic was temporarily stopped to allow the queue of emergency vehicles to progress through the city streets.

Poloche joined the NCDAC Special Operations and Intelligence Unit in 2013. Both Poloche and Elliott were full-time members of the U.S. Marshals Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force.
