Puppy named 'Goose' joins Rock Hill Police Department

Goose is training to join the department's bloodhound tracking team.

ROCK HILL, S.C. — The Rock Hill Police Department announced the latest addition to the team over the weekend; a puppy named 'Goose'. 

Goose, a 10-week-old bloodhound, is continuing training to join the department's team of tracking bloodhounds.

Once Goose is ready, he will be assigned to Officer Orr. 

The K-9 tracking team has 12 members. It trains weekly for a total of 16 hours per month. The K-9 team responds to an average of about 105 calls per year, according to the police department. 

The Rock Hill Police Department also has seven K-9 handlers, four dual-purpose patrol dogs and one explosive-detecting dog.
