Restaurant Report Card: Roaches seen running through Charlotte eatery's dining room

You never know what you'll find in the reports but it's information you'll want to know about before your next dinner or lunch out.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — This week's restaurant report card involves two things you never want in the kitchen: rats and roaches.

You never know what you'll find in the reports but it's information you'll want to know about before your next dinner or lunch out.

First up is Los Reyes Supermarket and Deli. They've been featured on the report card before. This time, the news isn't good. They had pork ribs left in the display case overnight, which they had to throw in the trash. The good news here is, their rat problem's getting better.

The bad news? The inspector saw dead roaches in the kitchen and live roaches running around the dining area! As for the food, their lettuce, cheese and salsa were all too warm. They have to be under 41 degrees.

The grade here? An 86, which is a B. Click here to read Los Reyes full inspection report

Next up, the Be Em Asian Kitchen. Someone here thought hand washing meant just using the spray arm at the sink. Nope, you have to use warm water, soap and really wash for 15 seconds. They were told to clean a dark buildup on the ice machine and their sliced beef, chicken and fish balls were all too warm. Items like fish balls need to be cold.

Their grade? An 87.5. Click here to read Be Em Asian Kitchen's full inspection report

Last up is Smashburger on Rea Road. They didn't have a certified food protection manager here, which is a no-no. And a food employee was seen handling raw ground beef with a gloved hand, then with bare hands, touched ready-to-eat bacon. And the inspector noted food debris and dirt behind the seating and on the floor.

Their grade here? A 91.5, that's a lower end A. Click here to read Smashburger's full inspection report
