BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. -- Two Gardner-Webb students were robbed in a dorm room by gunpoint Tuesday night.

According to Gardner-Webb University police, two students were in their dorm room around 8 p.m. when two men stormed in and robbed them. Police said the suspects had a small semi-automatic handgun and took laptops and a PS3 game system.

I was just in shock, I was very paranoid, because it could have been anybody, you know, said student Malcolm Gray.

Students living in the Lutz Yelton dorm on Gardner Webb's campus are still getting over the armed robbery of two fellow students on the second floor of the building.

The students were robbed at gunpoint in their room. Their lives were threatened as well. Items that were stolen include laptop, a game system, money, an iPhone and other items as well, said communications director Noel Manning.

The description of the two gunmen is vague, but they're not believed to be students.

On Thursday afternoon, the university said has identified a second car that was involved in the incident. Officers are search for a light-colored Ford Ranger with an industrial tool box across the back.

The robbers ran through two stop signs as they left campus shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday.

As soon as the incident was reported all students and staff were sent a series of text messages telling them to stay put and a description of the armed robbers. Randal Lockhart lives on the third floor of Lutz Hall and got the text message immediately.

We were playing racquetball at the time and it's kind of crazy because we didn't know where to go or what to do so (we) kind of just stayed where we were at, said Lockhart.

There are three doors to get into the dorm by an access card each student carries. It's not known how the robbers got inside, but students say one of the doors had a broken lock at the time and the victims had their door open to the hallway, something Lockhart says they are now careful about.

And they're thankful the outcome wasn't worse.

The door lock has since been fixed. University police are still investigating how the robbers got in.

None of the students were injured, and the university says it is adding more surveillance cameras on campus, including one at the entrance of each residential hall.

The two suspects are described as black males, around 6-feet-2 and were wearing jeans and black jackets.

A $2,500 reward is being offered for information that helps lead to arrests, and a toll-free hotline has been set up at 1-855-477-9347.
