ROCK HILL, S.C. — A motorcyclist was seriously injured in Rock Hill Saturday night after being struck on Saluda Road, according to Rock Hill Police Department.

Around 8:40 p.m., the driver of the Suzuki motorcycle was parked on the side of Saluda Road near the intersection of East Chapel Road. Police said the road had no street lights.

The driver of a Chevrolet failed to notice the stopped motorcycle and struck it in the rear, according to police. The impact knocked both vehicles off the roadway, ejecting the motorcyclist from his bike.

The motorcyclist, who has not yet been identified, was airlifted Atrium Health's Carolina's Medical Center in Charlotte. The driver and passenger of the Chevrolet were transported with minor injuries to Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

Police did not disclose why the motorcycle was on the side of the road, nor why the Chevrolet had exited the travel lane. The Rock Hill Police Department continues to investigate the collision.
