ROCK HILL, S.C. — A teen is in custody a week after a deadly shooting at a Rock Hill block party.
The Rock Hill Police Department announced the arrest of 19-year-old D’markieoun Ji’shae Clyburn on Friday, accusing him of killing 44-year-old Montest Mincey. Clyburn was apprehended in Lancaster County and is being brought to the Rock Hill jail. He will then be formally served with his murder warrant.
A bond hearing has not yet been set.
Clyburn is the first person to be arrested for the shooting that claimed two lives last week. Mincey, along with 21-year-old Maricus Kirk, both died at the scene.
The block party along Southland Drive turned violent around 10 p.m. on June 1, when officers said they heard gunshots coming from the party. A person who spoke to WCNC Charlotte anonymously said they saw people wearing ski masks during the shooting.
“It felt like a war zone," the person said. "There was shooting coming from every way.”
Rock Hill Police noted the investigation is still ongoing. A mugshot was not immediately available.
A GoFundMe started for Mincey notes she was a mother of three children.
