ROCK HILL, S.C. – Authorities in Rock Hill are investigating after a church was demolished during a massive fire Thursday morning.
Rock Hill Fire crews responded to a reported fire at Gospel Light Baptist Church on West Main Street around 6:15 a.m. When crews arrived, they found fire coming through the roof of the church. Rock Hill's fire chief told NBC Charlotte that the sanctuary building is a total loss.
Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control without any injuries. As is standard protocol for any church fire, SLED and the ATF will be notified and will assist with the investigation.
Authorities at the scene said it’s too early to tell the cause of the fire at this time.
