Rock Hill dance group to perform at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

The Rock Hill dancers will link up with thousands of other dancers and cheerleaders from around the country.

ROCK HILL, S.C. — A Rock Hill dance group will get the experience of a lifetime when they join thousands of other dancers at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.

The girls' dance instructor, Lindsey Farris, has always wanted to take her dancers to New York.

"I thought it would be a great experience because New York is just so full of dance and there's so much there," Farris said.

When Farris found out that Spirit of America was holding auditions for dancers to perform during the nationally televised Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, she knew she had to enter her girls.

"We sent in a video clip of us and auditioned and they got selected to be in it," Farris said.

Farris' dancers are in the "senior dance class" at Step South Dance and all range from 13-18 years old.

Farris and her girls will leave for New York on Saturday and will be there for 6 days and 7 nights. While in the Big Apple the girls will really get to experience the city.

"They get to go to a broadway show, get to see the Rockettes and are going to see the Statue of Liberty," Farris said.

The Rock Hill dancers will link up with thousands of other dancers and cheerleaders from around the country. Farris said this is a great way for her girls to meet new people.

"I know the girls are super excited about making news friends," Farris said. "Meeting dancers from all over. We've already been able to follow other dance studios on social media."

Farris said her girls work so hard and she's proud of all they have accomplished.

"We work hard as a team. Many of them are here at the studio three nights a week practicing," Farris said. "And they are also competition dancers so they compete and we just work really hard. This is a big reward for working so hard."

The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade will air Thursday, November 26 at 9 a.m. on NBC.
