CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Siemens Energy broke ground on a new gas turbine factory in Charlotte on Wednesday.
The company will open a new 450,000-square-foot gas turbine production plant adjacent to the existing Siemens Steam Turbine-Generator Manufacturing Plant.
The facility is expected to create 825 new jobs over the next five years and production at the plant is scheduled to begin next fall.
Siemens has operations and personnel in all 50 states. The company employs a total workforce of approximately 64,000 nationwide and over 2,100 of those employees work at 23 locations in North Carolina.
